Disaster Management
Preparation through education is less costly than learning through tragedy.
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. The school has skilled human resource to look into each requirement for managing any type of disaster. The school is completely equipped with material resources such as several fire extinguishers and sprinklers on each floor, fire alarm, stretcher, ladders, thick ropes and torch, communication system with emergency numbers displayed on the plan, first aid kit on each floor, a map displaying nearest available critical resources such as hospitals, blood banks etc. The school has specifically looked into mapping and coping mechanisms showcasing the vulnerable areas of the school building.
Remember: When Disaster strikes, the time to prepare has passed. C L Gupta believes in preparedness and henceforth to educate and train the students for an unforeseen emergency like fire, earthquake or any natural calamity, the school regularly conducts mock exercise and evacuation drill.
In the mock drill, immediately after the alarm bell, with proper guidance of the teachers the students are systematically evacuated from the building to the evacuation area (the school ground: safe zone). Following all the safety measures, the entire building is successfully cleared within a span of time.
Successful emergency management relies upon experience and expertise. The drill is organized to check the readiness of the school to face any such emergency during any natural calamity and also to make the students and staff aware about the Fire Fighting rescue operation and its procedure. These mock drills help in meeting the challenges in adverse situations and in coping with the situation during the time of natural and man-made disaster.
